I went to bed last night thinking of all the things I could blog about when I realized that every day I go about life reflecting on my life. I think about the things that make me happy as they happen and really make note of them.
This morning I was stumbling around trying to get Grace's drawer open to help her get clothes out with Ruby in my arms. Grace sleepily sits up and says "Mom, want me to hold Ruby?". How kind of her to notice that I needed help! That made me smile. When I came down to start breakfast I noticed a book she has been working on in regards to everyone's favorite color. The cover said "My Family's Fafrat Clrs". I reflected how much I love her phonetic spelling and I think I will miss when she learns to spell. She made a note for her Aunt and it said "Ant Dines Lois".....Aunt Denise Lewis. I just love that sweet face!
Amelia has been running around all day making "Nanny's Muffins". She says they are made with love like her late Nanny. I miss that lady so much! Last night I watched a movie that oddly reflected some of her life and in the end the main character passes away at the same age as our late Nanny. I cried for two hours. She is the first person in my life who I have lost who was a constant presence. I saw her 45 out of 52 weeks a year likely. I catch myself thinking "I can't wait for her to see the girls new dress, or Grace's loose tooth". My heart aches for her each day. I feel so blessed to have had her as a surrogate Grandmother.
I decided to try and keep my camera in the kitchen. I always enjoy
My Friend Kaycee's blog and she has lots of photos of her cooking. So today I took photos of our lunch. Pam asked me to share recipes as she is the Mom of young twin girls and is expecting soon. So I thought I would share where possible.
Today for lunch Amelia and I had (Her favorite kind of lunch) a snack lunch. We had cheese, crackers, carrots and green peppers. It was delish!!! I also made these
Fantastic Carrot Cookies. For dinner we are having "Cold Pizza".
1 tube Pillsbury crescent rolls
cream cheese
pesto (
I made this pesto tonight)
any fresh herbs you have kicking around
veggies cut up small...I use mushroom, carrots, green peppers
shredded cheese
Roll out the crescent rolls in on whole piece. Bake your rectangle and allow to cool. Soften your cream cheese and add the pesto. Do not nuke the pesto - it makes a huge mess!! Dress your pizza how you like and cover with cheese.
It is a huge fave around here. We eat it regularly.
These cookies are SO good and totally healthy!!!
The messier the better!!!
While eating this amazing, healthy dinner Grace proceeded to tell me how glad she was to have me. She then told her sisters and insisted I tell her Dad when he got home. And as I had my back turned to them I heard the two girls tell each other they loved one another. How did I get so lucky?
I want to end each blog with 5 things I am grateful for. I used to do this in high school and I loved it! So here goes:
-Hearing the cows in the field next door.
-Seeing 7:45 on the clock....it means Matt is on his way home!!!
-The new Lush soap I bought called "Honey I washed the kids"
-Smelling Ruby's neck after her bath
-Going to get the mail in my jammies knowing I will likely not be seen.
