My name, is Becky. I am many things. I wear many hats. First and most important, I am true. I am the Mother to three wonderful daughters. Grace, is 7. She is so smart, hilarious, caring and one of the kindest girls in my life. Amelia, my old soul, is 4. She is smart also. She is reflective, helpful and cuddly. Ruby, our baby, is 4 months old. She is super smily and brings us great joy. I am married to my very best friend, Matt. We have been together for 13 years. Married 9 this October. We live in our dream house in the country with our two dogs and one cat and many many adoptive cows, turkeys, the occasional goose and many other visitors. I am a photographer too!! A creative maniac too. I love to read, cook, eat....you name it!!!! I find great joy in the simple things.
My husband is a vegetarian. Hence the title of this blog. I am not. However, I understand his choices. I am leaning towards it more and more every day...or should I say every bite! My husband can tell you what animals have been mistreated and what emmissions are created where because of that farming. For me, I see their faces. I envision myself being a veg some day. I LOVE to eat. Let's face it...there are very little options for this lifestyle in the world of convenience food (McDonalds) and in restaurant dining. Menu's will do us the grand favor and point out what is veg on the menu - um like 3 things. Thanks though. I realllly love a hamburger too. So my goal now is, if I can avoid it I will.
Before we moved to our new home in October, I rarely cooked a decent meal. It was McDonalds two nights a week, pizza one or two, Mac and Cheese, grilled cheese....junk. When we moved here, I discovered the joys of cooking. We bought some great cookbooks and I started to buy some great new cooking implements. Not to mention the cooking shows. I love The Food Network!!!! I work very hard now to spend the majority of my shopping time in the produce section. I always aim to have 50% of my bill be on produce. Our goal next summer is to have a wonderful garden so that we can walk that aisle instead :-)
Matt and I are also committed to attachment parenting. That means when she was born I spent lots of time skin to skin with her - two hours in fact before she left me. I breast feed on demand, pick her up when she cries and wear her more often than not. We have also started to cloth diaper as much as 90% of the time. My goal is to be 100% by the time she is 5 months. I need to buy a few items and that is why we aren't yet. I guess I am what some would call a granola Mom. I don't make their clothes yet - although I would love to. I am working hard to repurpose things as much as possible and to use my creative talents as gifts spending little to no money.
I plan to start a new exercise program tomorrow - dancing! I want to spend 30 mins a day being silly with my kids dancing. We have a great Wii game called "Just Dance 2". I LOVE this game - dancing all silly like. You just try to dance and not laugh, or smile. Good for the soul!!!
I am not really sure where this blog will take me. Musings from my kids, recipes I have tried, sites that I love. Who knows! But I am excited to be here...
great! I love it Becky!
